CIT Director J. Joel Alicea, Director of the Center for the Constitution and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition at Catholic Law, was part of the litigation team that filed the opening brief on Friday, August 28, in Viramontes v. Cook County, a Second and Fourteenth Amendment case the Supreme Court will hear this term. Acting as Of Counsel at Cooper & Kirk, Alicea is involved in a case that asks whether Americans have a constitutional right to possess AR-15 and similar semi-automatic rifles—a ruling that will carry lasting consequences for gun owners, lawmakers, and courts nationwide.
